Nexplanon is a single-rod contraceptive device that contains the hormone progestin and is inserted subdermally (into the skin) in the inner upper arm. It is used for long-acting (3-5 years) and reversible contraception.
How soon does Nexplanon begin working?
Nexplanon begins working seven days after it is inserted.

Nexplanon provides contraceptive benefits for approximately three to five years after it is inserted.
